Itinerary

The First Bend of the Yangtze River. That's what you first experience on route to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. This upper part of the river is actually referred to as Jinsha Jiang, which means the Golden Sand River. Then, in the small town of Qiaotao, you will enter the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Already from the parking area, you will have a splendid view of this wild part of the river and the huge mountains that together form the Gorge. A stair leads you down to the river, but keep in mind that it is in total 440 steps down and later on up again. In the middle of the smallest section of the river, there is a big rock. It is told that at this point a chased tiger escaped a hunter by jumping over the river.
Once back at the car, you will return to Dali or Lijiang.
