Yunnan is China’s most stunning region, a magical and enchanting part of the world. Its pristine beauty transports the traveler to a mystical land and to a time long gone. Yunnan is one of the almost 30 province of the People's Republic of China. The province is located in southwestern China. Cultures do not necessarily end at borders, resulting in an interesting part of the country, that is not only shaped and formed by humans but also by nature. It is bordered by three foreign countries and four other Chinese provinces. Yunnan covers an area over 380,000 km2 with a population of almost 50 million.

The multicultural province in the southwest of china is a world on its own. Yunnan is noted for a very high level of ethnic diversity. Among the country's 56 ethnic groups, 26 live in Yunnan.

Not only cultural, but also it's flora and fauna are famous, both within China as in the worldwide. Yunnan's terrain is largely mountainous. There is a distinct canyon region to the west and a plateau region to the east. Yunnan's major rivers flow through the deep valleys between the mountains.

Besides, the favourable weather conditions, makes Yunnan the ultimate holiday destination that is not yet flooded with mass tourism.

Yunnan's neighbouring areasYunnan resides a very special spot in Southeast Asia. It is bordered by three foreign countries; Myanmar (Burma), Laos and Vietnam. Besides, the province is also bordered by the Chinese provinces Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan and Tibet Autonomous Region.
